For editing PS2 ISO's, you should use either CDMage (the one with the import function) or Apache 3. Apache 3 can be found on this site. CDMage can be found here October 23, 2014, 06:59:55 am - (Auto Merged - Double Posts are not allowed before 7 days.) Both tools allow to reinsert files in the ISO, given that you don't change the size of the file you are going to insert. Rebuilding the whole ISO will require some more magic. Moreover, many games, do not use the standard ISO9660 file system to access files, thus, just rebuilding the ISO might not work properly.

For the most part it is standard iso handling tools that do what needs doing, PhOeNiX just linked a bunch which is nice as previously it was mainly commercial stuff (ultraiso, poweriso, magiciso.) that played well here. Some games did leave files outside the standard filesystem though, most notably some of the Square Enix stuff which in turn had various audio tools made to rip it. This is why an iso might be so many gigs but all the files extracted might be somewhat less, though there are other reasons (padding was useful in some cases and on the xbox at least there were benefits to ordering the files properly/putting them at the edge of the disc).
I have been trying to compress some of my PS2 ISO's to save some space on my HDD, but I have been experiencing troubles with some of the ISO's. The smaller ones were compressed with no problems, but recently I tried several times to compress Devil May Cry III ISO (3.775.136 KB) and its respective.mds file (5 KB) using 7zip, but it just takes forever. For every second it spends in the process of compressing, the remaining time goes up 2 minutes.
When I tried to leave it overnight, for about 8 or 9 hours, the process was stuck at about 30% and with 247 hours or so remaining. Similar issues occur with other ISO's. Is there a specific setting that I need to adjust on 7zip, or maybe a different compressing tool that would work better? Give these 7-Zip settings a go My PC's barely what I need for emulation of PS2 anyway but compression is fine, I'll show my specs Once I managed to compress GTA - SA within 10-15 mins on a high compression setting, I'll give it as an example Ultra takes up too much RAM on LZMA2; my PC can do it but it drastically slows down my PC for ages since my RAM is only 4GB (required is about 2GB) EDIT: Give WinRAR a go as well, sometimes 7-Zip goes weird so I use WinRAR instead and the.part1.rar and the.part2.rar is pretty good Last edited by ndsplayer19576; 12th-March-2013 at 22:40.
Thank you for your help, ndsplayer, but I tried these settings and the same problem occured. But maybe that's because my PC sucks so bad. The only difference I got was that the maximum number of CPU threads I could set was 2 (after the dash on the right of this setting, where your image displays '/4', mine shows '/2').Thats my thread count; I have 2 cores, 4 threads Can you give your PC specs anyways? Just to make sure and while you're there give a lower compression setting a go Another problem it could be is to do with the algorithm of the 7z, in this case give LZMA a go EDIT: I'm assuming you've given the algorithms a go already, try doing a zip file (or rar with WinRAR) EDIT 2: Sorry for asking a lot, but could you give me the settings of the first time you compressed the ISO? By on: You may want to check out the releases as a few with Cobra 7.5, such as, include PS2 ISO support according to their, to quote:. PS2 ISO Support for BC (HW) / non-BC (SW) Consoles PlayStation 2 on NON-BC Consoles Software (SW) Emulation: Support for PS2 ISOs in non BC consoles was removed in Cobra 4.30 (usb), due tops2softemu missing. It has been re-enabled now by hacking of ps2netemu. You can use it in the same way as before, just load an ISO and launch from disc icon, Cobra core takes care of rest. No need for encrypted isos, isos patched with limg sectors, etc. Just your normal PS2 isos dumped from discs.
Emuparadise Ps2
However, there is NO SUPPORT for Optical Discs in PS2NETEMU. Note 1: Don’t forget to set the memory cards in XMB, in the old memory card utility for PS/PS2, as ps2netemu won’t let you assign them in game as long as you use the new ps2 launcher. Note 2: Decrypted Config can now be used, place the CONFIG file in the same game path. An example below.
Code: devhdd0/PS2ISO/God of WAR2.ISO devhdd0/PS2ISO/God of WAR2.ISO.CONFIG Decrypted CONFIG files are available via. PlayStation 2 on BC and Semi-BC Consoles Hardware (HW) Emulation: PS3 Models: CECHA, CECHB, CECHC and CECHE Backwards Compatible (BC) Consoles will still use their respective emulators (ps2emu, ps2gxemu), which have much better compatibility and also support optical discs, original or backup. Some other (older) options would be to use with an Internal HDD and put your PS2 ISO file in the devhdd0/PS2ISO folder if you have a backwards-compatible PS3 console, to use PS2 Classics Manager v1.02 by to make a PKG and install it with a GUI ( - 8.88 MB) by, or use to convert your PS2 ISO files and load them from the XMB using PS2 ISO playback.
If you get a 'copyright protection is invalid' (80029513) error, then try for activating the RAP file or try this method. Good luck, and if anyone here knows a better/faster way let us know!
